What Startup Founders Are Saying

The KITCHENTOWN team gave us the knowledge and attention we needed to get our West Coast operation off the ground. They were always in our corner, guiding us as we navigated key decisions and always willing to offer a helping hand. Hungryroot would not be where it is today if we had not found such a great partner.

Farmstead would have never gotten off the ground as fast as it did without KITCHENTOWN. The first time I spoke to them, I was quite new to the ways of the food industry and had to learn a lot aggressively. The KITCHENTOWN team know the industry in and out, and what would have been a months-long effort to ramp up our food industry learning (while scaling a startup in parallel), thanks to them, turned into a tight, focused crash course in starting a food business. I consider working with them one of our best early decisions as a company, and working together with them at their space meant we had their vast food expertise at a moment's notice.

The entire KITCHENTOWN team was a major support for us as we prepared to scale our business and move from early phase market penetration to national distribution. Their systems and procedures allowed us to grow at our own pace without major facility investments or the volume demands of outside manufacturers — this was key to getting to the point where we could scale successfully.

KITCHENTOWN helped Ladera move from a sporadic operation to a well-oiled machine. With the help of KITCHENTOWN staff and its network of seasoned production workers, we have been able to increase production 5x over the past year, pass rigorous food safety standards for retailers such as Safeway and Whole Foods, and become gluten-free and non–GMO certified.
The wealth of knowledge of the KITCHENTOWN staff and the other startup residents has enabled Ladera to become a significant competitor in the market. While at KITCHENTOWN, we have been exposed to new distributors, food service and retail sales opportunities, speaking engagements, legal advice, and ingredient and equipment sourcing opportunities — all of which contributed to Ladera's accelerated growth. Ladera joined KITCHENTOWN as a local granola company and now services some of the largest tech companies in Northern California, along with some of the largest retailers in the country such as Sprouts, Whole Foods, Safeway and even Walmart. As Ladera's production volume increases, the company will soon need to move on and that will be a tough goodbye.

Working at KITCHENTOWN has allowed us to increase our production capacity and, more importantly, enabled us to confidently expand into larger accounts such as Whole Foods. Not only do we love working in a state-of-the-art facility, we also have the opportunity to interact with other like-minded food entrepreneurs, which has proved to be invaluable.
